Sporty Athletics

This week we have been practicing for Athletics. For Athletics we had to do Long Jump, High Jump, Discus, Shot Put, Sprints, Long Distance Run. I was very nervous to vs the fast people, like Evelyn, Lyan, Alexis, Brooke. I came 2nd place in the Long Distance Run and High Jump, I felt happy that I came 2nd. My Favorite part of the day was trying my best. 

I think my goal next year is to paste myself in the Long Distance Run and practice for High Jump. 

Softball

For the past 3 weeks we have been looking at for our information report. I am doing softball, softball is a fun and enjoyable game to play. I have been researching about it, did you know that softball are made with synthetic leather and dirt? 

What I am going to talk about

Kia Ora , do you like sports? Today I am going to talk about Softball. I will be telling you how softballs are made, what positions there are, how many people can be on the field, how many grades  and the rules there are.

Do you think that soft balls are hard or soft?

My opinion is that soft balls are hard because if you think about it most balls are hard. Anywho let's move on.

How Softballs Are Made

Soft balls are made with synthetic leather.  Under the skin of the ball is a round brown ball of dirt. The Center or Pill: The center is mostly made of rubber-covered cork, referred to as a cushioned cork center. Rawlings Major League baseball's use a two-piece rubber cover surrounding the cork.

• The Windings: The pill is surrounded by wrapped cotton, wool or poly-cotton blends, which layer several times around the ball. Higher-priced balls feature more winding and higher-quality thread or yarn.
• The Cover: The cover of most game balls is generally cowhide leather wrapped around the winding in two figure-8 panels. Synthetic- and rubber-covered balls are used for practice.
• The Seams: All baseballs are stitched by hand since there isn’t a machine to accommodate the spherical shape. Heavy-duty threads seam the cover together to create the finished baseball. Official MLB balls feature 108 stitches per ball. The two types of seams include regular, which are a flatter, lower-profile stitch, and raised seams, which stand higher, making for easier grip and better breaking balls.

The Rules In Softball

1. You must touch each base before you move to the other base.
2. The person that is on home base must run all the way through base 1. So that the umpire doesn't call them out.
3. If you are on base one and you are feilding you must touch your base when you get the ball and before the runner touches your base.
4. You can not pass a base runner that is in front of you, because if you do then you can get disqualified.
5. A softball game can last anywhere from 3 to 7 innings, or 1–2 hours depending on the league, rules, and type of softball; however 7 innings is the most common. In each inning, each team bats until three batters have been put out.

How Many Grades There Are

Do you know how much grades there are in Softball? Well I am about to tell you how much there are. I am about to tell you how much grades there can be and how much there are.

There is T ball Mix, under 9, under 11, under 13, under 15, under 17 and then the adult team, but if you are really good at playing you can go under a higher age group.

There can  only be 7 teams but there is 14 teams because there is boys and girl that play.

Do you know that if there is a person on every base and you get them home including yourself, that means you got a grand slam?

What Positions There Are

How many positions do you think there are? Well I am about to tell you how much pistons there and how many people can be on time.

A game of softball involves team members taking turns as batters to play against the other team of fielders, with the latter side made up of a pitcher, a catcher, third baseman, shortstop, and three outfielders. A team sends one batter out to the field at a time.

How Many Can Be On Field

There can be softball Rules. The Field - The baselines will be 65 feet. The distance from pitcher's mound to home plate will be 50 feet. The Players - A team must have 9 players to start or to continue a game with the maximum of 10 players.

On field there has to be catcher, pitcher, center, first base, second base, third base, left out field, right outfield and shortstop.

My conclusion

I think that Softball is a fun game to play and that you should play it because you can play with a lot of people to meet. Remember that you need a bat, softball and bases. You need to touch every base when you are running around. Try to get a grand slam!

I felt happy I was doing this subject, and that I could do softball. My favourite of this research is when I was researching about the rules in Softball.

The Cool Game Of UNO

This week Ako Nagtahi has been looking at some new games. Me and my buddy Jessica have been looking at UNO. UNO is a game of cards that you can play with 2-7 people because there is much more cards then you think. I have got a presentation for you to look at and play with my instruction.

Nets For Shapes

This week my maths group has been learning what Net for shapes. The group I am in is the stars the stars are the 2nd highest group the Diamonds. The shapes we had to do is Sphere, Pyramids, Cone, Cylinder and a Cube. For a Sphere you have to use 19 ovals, for a Pyramids you need 3 triangle opposite each other and a square in the middle. For a cone you need to use a triangle and a circle, for a Cylinder you need to use rectangle and to circle, one at the top and one at the bottom.

Last Week Canterbury Swim School

Hi guys last week I post a spectacular blog post about swimming. Today is our last day of going swimming at Canterbury Swim School. I feel disappointed because it our last day, and because my Instructor tout me heaps of things to get better at swimming.

My goal was to know how to do the dolphin dive and stream line kicking, I completed my goal and will now know how to do it. The most important thing for me was to, practice how to do back stroke.
Also today we will be doing water safety. We had to wear clothes because If we were in a serous condition we would have clothes on.

Canterbury Swim School

On October the 13'th

My school toke swimming lessons. We toke swimming lessons so that if we get stuck in the sea we would know what to do. I am in the small pool because I don't have much experince swimming. 

My Instructors name is Jhrnyelle. She teaches my group what to do. Every lesson we have to do Back Stroke, Free Style, Dolphin Dive and The Worm, is were you have to put your arms by your side and wiggle like a worm.

Partly Cloudy

This week we have been working on a story about a cloud. That acts like he is a real human. Here is my story.

One nice calm after noon with the yellow red and orange sun fading down there were black and white birds with stick legs and long necks and  black round eyes were flying past with white bags hooked onto their long yellow beak heading to the city.

One of the birds dived down and put the white bag on the window sill and unwrapped it the lady’s new baby was here and other one delivered a bag with kittens in it and another one delivered a puppy. All the birds have delivered the stuff they went up high in the sky and went to some fluffy clouds but they weren't just any clouds they were fluffy giants!.

The birds landed on the clouds the giant were on after all that a bird that was gray and looked like he just got shot with white thunder. He landed on a gray cloud that was sad when the giant saw sight of the bird and got happy and squeezed the life out of him the gray bird and then made something what he made was a dark green chomping crocodile then wrapped the dark green saw sight of the bird and got happy and squeezed the life out of him the gray bird and then made something what he made was a dark green chomping crocodile then wrapped the dark green crocodile and gave it to the bird the bird looked anxious to grab hold of it.

But he knew he has to do it he Tartuffe up and took it out of it hands and took a deep breath in but the crocodile bit the bird in the head! The bird yelled ‘’OUCH!’’ And flew away mean while he was doing that task the gray cloud looked around and saw all the other white clouds having fun with their birds and making cute things. The gray cloud said .sigh.

The gray bird came back with feathers falling of his gray body the gray cloud picked them up and put them on his head but they fell off. He looked up and saw a white cloud and flew up there the gray clouds heart had just shattered into a million pieces he looked up and saw the white cloud giving the gray bird a white bag. The gray cloud got so mad that he turd to black and white thunder came out then he stopped and cried it was raining under him suddenly the bird came back the cloud stopped but he was sniffing the bird unwrapped the white bag and put on a rugby helmet and a rugby chest plate on the cloud smiled and squeezed the life out  of him.

The Pit Story

I made my hands get gripped to the top of the slide. I wonder what would be down there and if I would fall into a pit that goes all the way down into the concrete. I was terrified at first, then I let go of the silky slide.

I held my breath and went down the bone-chilling slide. I thought “I should of stopped by now” “AHHHHHHHHHHH.” After 10 seconds of falling I hit the balls that were in the dark and spooky hole.

I landed on my face, I stood up and touched my soft cheek. I felt my left cheek then my right cheek. On my right cheek there was something weird on it felt like a hard candy. I looked at my cheek. “YUK, GET OFF” I yelled. I put the hard candy in my pocket.

I started to climb. I jumped to another pit, I stopped. There was a plaster sitting at the top of the next soft ball that I was going to grab. It started to fall, it fell on my face. I tried to blow it off but it did not work so I let go off the balls and wiped it off of me. After that I had realized that it was a bad Idea. I had realized that something had saved me. It was the hard candy. I had got it out off my pocket and stuck it into the balls.

I started to climb again. I reached the top and smiled. I still had the hard candy and I did not know what to do with it, so I looked at it. It had some old food on it and a hair that looked like a baby's hair. But guess what I ate it anyway.

Slime

My class is having a marble day. Are marble day is something that our whole class gets to do. We have to try and get 100 marbles in a jar. To get marbles we have to Sit up nicely, Respect each other, Respect the environment and be on the right place at the right time.

In my group there is Brooke, Ryleigh, Sharney and I. The recipe we are doing is fluffy slime.

My Love Story

I sat at the brown soft piano as my fingers took control of all the memories that I was felling. It was a very emotional time. I was shivering like a leaf as I crumbled. I was broken.

I was playing notes of memories that me and my wife use to play before she past away. She couldn’t be saved she had a terrible tumor cancer there was no cure for a women her age, I was broken with nothing. Then I heard the lovely very beautiful notes of my wife playing the piano. Jenny grabbed my hand and started to play a note with me. My love that was shredded like paper, she kissed me and left like there was nothing more to see.

After that another memories floated by and made my shaking fingers change the tune. I remembered another memory as my eyes started to water. It was my brother he was in war. He looked at me with a big tear, he walked out of the crumbling trench and tried to shot the other group with a shot like lightning, but he got shot in a flash. I felt scared because 2 of my loved ones are gone.

I was scrambled. Then I remembered that I had a wonderful son, his name is Jeremiah. I remembered that I had brought a toy horse for him on his birthday. He loved it his dreams had come true. He put the silky horse down and sat on the warm chair. He finished my sad song with a lovely note, and smiled at me.

My Production

This term we have been focusing on New Zealand Music Month. We have been practicing for week so that we could get it perfect. We had to perform it on the 30th of August & 31st of August,  I felt nervous because there was going to be about 340 people there. Last night we had our first performance and we are having another performance tonight.

We had to try and think of song from before 2001 that are made by New Zealand Artist's. I did Slice Of Heaven by Dave Dobbyn. In my group there was Brooke, Shanarnia, Dominique, Mikayla, Jasper, Sam, Sage, Corbyn and I.

I was in 6 roles, I had to do choir, Maui And His Three Brothers, Ukulele, Slice Of Haven, Kapa Haka and Why doe's love do this to me?

My Somalia Story

W.A.L.T...write a narrative through the eyes of one of the crew, or robots or the pirates.

This week we have been writing about Somalia and if we were the captain on the ship or the captain on the ship a crew I chose to be the captain.

It was one sunny day on the shimmering water of Somalia. It was nice and peaceful day until some pirates from another ship came along.

Then my personal assistant heard something that sounded like foot step.

“WHAT WAS THAT!”

“It is the other pirates.”

Nobody knew about it until the pirates went into the kitchen, into the bottom of the ship, and the other captain from the other ship came to me and said

“ Do you know how I am.”

“Who.”

“The new captain!”

Then the crew from the other ship came down to these containers. After that they saw something it looked like robots. The robots helped me. They chucked them over board. One of them said”BOO” and that scared half of them away. Once they had scared all of them away they went back into the container and always keeps them safe

This is my slide I had to try and think which is bigger and which is smaller. Then we had to add fractions like 1/2+1/2 that equals 1 hole if you did not know already.

Crop Circles Awesome Creation

W.A.L.T... Create a model that shares something we have learnt about our mystery.

This term we have been learning about mystery. The choices were Loch Ness Monster, Crop Circles, Easter Island, Bermuda Triangle, Roswell, The Power Of The Pyramids, Big Foot, Lost City Of Atlantis. My topic was Crop Circles my group had to make a model of a crop circle and teach people that weren't in our group something. My group was Sophia Brooke and Me. Here is our Model. I felt really glad that I got it done in time for shared lunch.

Kia Ora, Good morning ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls. My name is Tasharn and today I am going to talk to use about my mystery. Have you ever heard of Crop Circles?

Do you know what or how Crop Circles are made?

Is it true that Aliens make Crop Circles?

Well  hold your hat’s and strap yourself in, because I am going to solve this mystery for you.

Have you ever thought that Crop Circles were made by aliens?

Have you ever been to a corn field and thought why is this big circle around me?

I believe that crop circles aren't made by aliens they are just a hoax made by humans.

You should believe that crop circles aren't real because aliens aren't real, it is all just a hoax.

Well guess what, I’m going to tell you how I solved this mystery of the Crop Circles because I have evidence to prove it.  

I got all my information of sites and youtube videos. First I want to talk to you about the two men who made crop circles.

Did you know that two men? Doug Bower and Dave Chorley made a plank of wood then tied rope to it then made the corn or wheat go flat. It all started in September 1991 that Dave Chorley and Doug Bower  started to make crop circles. They were making crop circles for 13 years then they owned up to making crop circles and that it was all just a hoax. Now I am going to talk to you about aliens and if they made them.

Some people believe that aliens make crop circles. Some people say that the caught aliens on tape and that they watched them make them. But some say that they hear noises that sound like aliens making them. Next I am going to talk to you about UFO’s and if they made them.

Did you know that people believe that UFO’s make crop circles how silly is that. Crop Circles are not made by UFO’s they were made by humans. But some people believe that they were made by UFO’S and aliens. Then it comes to me to talk about tornado’s and if they made them.

Do you know what a tornado is?

Do you think that crop circles are made by tornados and the way they spin makes them. There was about 5-8 crop circles made by tornados. Is it true that tornadoes made crop circles? Tornadoes, wind gusts and plasma may have accounted for some of the simple circles but these explanations do not hold up when some of the extremely complex designs are viewed and Time to talk about Humans and if they made them.

So do you think that crop circles are made by humans. people believe that they were made by UFO’s, Aliens, Tornadoes and the two men who made are hoaxes.

So now do you think that Crop Circles are made by Aliens, Tornadoes, UFO’s, and the two men Doug Bower and Dave Chorley made them. No it was Humans Doug Bower and Dave Chorley made then with a plank of wood and some rope to push down the stalk of corn down.

This comes to the condition that crop circles are not made by UFO’s, Aliens, Tornados and the two men who made are hoaxes. They are made by Humans Doug Bower and Dave Bower. Mystery solved over and done with.

I felt Proud, nervous and happy. I felt proud because I preformed in front of all the adults.

The Day I was Still Alive

It was a sunny day on the 3rd of March, with bright blue skies. I was walking home from school that day then all of a sudden there was a storm on a sunny day I thought the weather is playing up again. But it wasn't playing up it was an actual storm coming my way. So then a hole appeared I thought how did a hole appear?

So I looked inside it was dark and spooky. I was about to walk away until my friend purposely pushed me in. I was falling for about 30 minutes before I hit the ground, then splat! I hit the ground. I was asleep for 5 minutes before I got up.

Then went to a sign that said “Welcome to Candyland”.

I said “How did I get here? I remember one of my friends pushed me in the hole and I fell ”.  

Then I heard something it was people shouting like crazy.

So I followed the sound and I saw racing cars lining up at a black and white dots and there were candies on the seats chairing for the races at the lines. “I want to be in this race” I said quietly to myself.” So I went to this that said “Make a car” so I went in after I had asked I picked a car that was a racing car I made it purple with magenta stripes and pink wheels. Then I went to the race track.

We needed a gold coin. I thought “How am I meant to get in the race.  Then I saw something shining in the tree a gold coin I quickly run to the tree and back to my kart. Then there was a problem all the candy was poisonous when I got in my kart. It started coming alive.

I had to quickly finish the race so that it would all go away and so that I could win the cup of gold. So I speed up I went faster and faster closer to the finish line. I was close then it came up with ‘You're the winner!’’

I thought “Have I finished the race?” The poisonous candy died when I went over the finish line. I won the cup and came first place.

But when I passed the line? I went straight back to my real world which was walking home from school.

I felt glad and happy that I got out of the poisonous candies and back home safely. Then when I got home I gave my mum a humongous hug.

“You won't believe what just happened…….”.

For the past few weeks my group has been very busy doing our maths DLO.

Duathlon

Yesterday my school had a duathlon.

A duathlon is were you have to do two things. We had to run and bike but you could scooter if you didn't have a bike. I biked, we had to do 2 laps of the netball court at Hornby High and two laps of our field. I came first place. After that my sister had a race also she came first place like me. I felt confident doing this.  I was proud of my achievement.

Beach art

This week we have been doing our  Beach Art. To do this we had to go to the beach and collect some stuff from the beach like seaweed, driftwood, sea shells, rocks and flacks. But some of us did not get to collect anything from the beach so we went around the school a collected some stuff from around the school.
Here's mine it is called 'Cross Of The Ocean' because it is a cross and we got the thing for it from the beach by the ocean.

Spencer Park

Spencer park

On March the 10th my school went to Spencer Park in Spencerville. I was in group 1A with Mr Scot. But some of us went in a car but the rest of us went on bus. I really wanted to go in a car because my friend were in the car and because buses go slow. I was excited to go to Spencer Park because I had never been there before.

Then we went  Lagoon Walk, Wetlands and Bird hide out to go see the birds and saw lots of them. We saw the birds when we on the Lagoon Walk. We saw lots of spider nest and lots of horses. When we were at the Lagoon Walk, Wetlands and Bird hide out I learnt something that you have to be quiet around the birds.

At the playground I made some new friends named Brianna, Medina and Julia. Then some of us went on the flying foxes, the spider web and a swing. When we were at the playground we saw other schools at Spencer Park.

We went to the beach it was a long walk before we got to the beach. To collect sea shells I collected some seaweed and shells. After we had collected something we had to get in a group of 4  to make a sand castle.I was in a group with Risha, Mikayla and Kea I felt calm about making sand castles.

Lastly, we went to the playground to a have a run around and to play after lunch cause we had been walking for ages and we needed to have fun after all our walking. I was playing on the flying foxes, spider web and the slide. I saw some of my friend there names are Mediana, Brianna and Julia. Mediana and Brianna are from my Softball team and Julia went to camp with me.

Then we had to go back to school, but before we went back to school we had a piece of fruit. I had an apple, Risha had an apple. We had to finish our fruit before we got on the bus because there was no eating or drinking on the bus. I will remember what I learnt today about being quiet around birds so that I don’t scare them.

In Ako Ngatahi we had to write a narrative about a video. It was about a boy opening a present that was a dog with three legs. Here is the video of the present. I hope you enjoy my story.

The Present

The present

One day I was playing my video games. Then mum brought something it was in a box. I opened it slowly then a puppy popped up. He was cute with a big, black nose. I took it out and I looked at the puppy’s legs. He only had 3 legs I thought “Yuck” and chucked it away.

Then the puppy came up to my leg and barked. I kicked it away and I thought, pathetic puppy. Then the puppy saw something. It was a red ball. He ran to try and get it but he ran into the cupboard that’s where the red ball was. But eventually he got the ball from under the cupboard and he made the ball hit my leg I kicked it and it happened to end up in the box. So the puppy ran up to the ball and then the dog got stuck inside the box. I looked at the puppy, he grabbed the ball in his mouth. He fell over the ball fell out of his mouth. So he picked it up with his mouth and ran up to me and he dropped the ball at my feet. He was a fun and excited dog so I started to like him.

I only have one leg to, so I grabbed the ball and my crutches  and put the ball in my pocket. I opened the door and said “We’re going outside Mum” I shouted. So off we went out side. I was really happy that the pup had forgiven me.
